The Rocket Song is a Barney song that first appeared in "Three Wishes". It uses the same tune as "The Caissons Go Rolling Along" (also known as "The Army Song", "The Caisson Song" or "The Army Goes Rolling Along").

Lyrics

(The lyrics below are the ones mostly used on the show. Slight name and pronoun variations have been used in various episodes. Sometimes the countdown starts from ten instead of five.)

Five! Four! Three! Two! One!
Blast off!
Flying high in the sky,
We look back and wave goodbye,
As our spaceship is flying away.
Past the Earth, and the stars.
We'll see Jupiter and Mars.
As our spaceship is flying away.
For it's 1-2-3,
Lots of fun for you and me.
Barney's the captain of the day - hooray!
When he leads the way,
Everything is A-OK,
As our spaceship is flying away
Hip hooray!
Flying high in the sky,
We look back and wave goodbye.
As our spaceship is flying back home.
To the earth, past the stars.
We'll see Jupiter and Mars.
As our spaceship is flying back home.
For it's 1-2-3,
Lots of fun for you and me.
Barney's the captain of the day - hooray!
When he leads the way,
Everything is A-OK,
As our spaceship is flying back home.
Hip hooray!

Trivia

  • Whenever this song is sung, nobody really travels to a real outer space, rather, graphic effects are used to make the viewers (children) think that they are in outer space.
  • In Grown-Ups for a Day! it is easy to see that the rocket ship Derek flew in was on earth the whole time.
  • In Stick with Imagination!, Stephen and Keesha wore bike helmets, jackets and winter gloves.
  • In Read with Me, Gianna wore an orange suit, a football helmet and rain boots.
