Stella is a storyteller who appeared in the Barney franchise from 1995 up to 2008. She was portrayed by the late actress Phyllis Cicero.

Stella's job is traveling around the world to tell stories. On many occasions, she has visited Barney and his friends, usually by something they said. She always brings new stories to tell, coming from locations like Greece, Mexico, Brazil and many more places. If available, the good-bye phrase has been pronounced in a different language before Stella leaves. As she leaves, she notably says her catchphrase "Toodles!".

Stella owns a cat named Muffin as seen in "Camera Safari".

Stella has twelve cousins as seen in "It's Time For Counting".

Stella and Mrs Turner

Stella and Mrs. Turner in "Barney & Baby Bop Go to the Library"

  • Stella made several appearances in Barney Books, in both illustrated and photographed form.
  • Although Stella travels around the world, she has never visited Argentina, New Zealand, Canada, Belgium, Russia, Jamaica, China, Ireland, Austria, Denmark, Kenya, Switzerland, and the Czech Republic.
  • Stella never appeared with any of the original kids or the original Backyard Gang, including Michael, Amy, Adam, Luci, Tina, Derek, Jason, Jesse, Rebecca, David, and David (Robert Hurtekant).
  • The only kid that Stella never appeared with was Linda, though she appeared with her in the promotional photo for Season 5.
  • "It's Time For Counting" and "The Best of Barney" are the only times Stella makes an appearance, but does not tell a story.
  • After Barney & Friends ended, the whereabouts of her door that she used to travel is unknown.
  • She used 2 different kinds of suitcases in the series.
  • In "What A World We Share", it is revealed that Stella gets a sticker everywhere she goes to travel, puts them on her suitcase, and that's how she remembered where she's been.
  • She is briefly mentioned in the episode "It's Raining, It's Pouring...".
