Jason was a character who appeared in the first three videos in the Barney and the Backyard Gang series before being replaced by Derek. He was played by Salim Grant.

Behind the scenesEdit

According to Bob West, Grant was upset during the filming of the videos (in other words he was being a brat). He probably didn't like acting after a while. This lead to him leaving the set, with Rickey Carter taking over as Derek starting with Waiting for Santa.

None of the videos explained why Jason is not with the gang anymore, and he never made an appearance on Barney & Friends.
