Demi Lovato (born August 20, 1992) is an American singer, songwriter, musician, and actress. She appeared as Angela in seasons 7-8 on Barney and Friends whom she portrayed between the ages of 10 and 11. The role of Angela was her first appearance on television.
In a 2013 interview, Lovato talked about how appearing on Barney and Friends helped her deal with bullying and suicidal thoughts [1]. It was on the set of Barney and Friends where Lovato met longtime best friend and actress Selena Gomez, who portrayed Gianna in seasons 7-8. Like Gomez, Lovato quit Barney and Friends in 2004 because the producers felt she was getting too old for her role.
She is most well known for her starring roles in the Camp Rock movies, as Sonny Munroe in the Disney sitcom Sonny with a Chance, and as the star of the 2009 movie Princess Protection Program. She is also involved in philanthropic activities through charity work and various social and environmental causes. In 2010, she entered a treatment center due to mental health issues she had been dealing with since childhood.
