Christine Lanning (born June 25, 1970 in Enid, Oklahoma) is best known to be a performance director for Barney & Friends. Outside of Barney & Friends, Lanning is also an actress for various films. Prior, she was an actress in theatre, starting at the young age of ten.

Career[]

Barney & Friends[]

Shelley C. Aubrey, who was a performance director for Barney & Friends, called Lanning due to a job opening that she thought Lanning would be perfect for and she wanted her to apply for the position. Lanning applied and she was interviewed for the open position. Prior, Lanning was choreographing a children's show. She showcased the crew her work on the respective children's production she worked on. The Barney & Friends crew thought Lanning was too polished. The crew eventually gave Lanning a song to choreograph. She had to find the kids and the crew was going to witness her work. A notable individual who came to witness the work of Lanning was Linda Houston, who was a producer for Barney & Friends, Lanning eventually got the job.

Lanning's first day of filming on Barney & Friends was on September 11, 2001, while Barney's Christmas Star was being filmed at Las Colinas. When Lanning started, she was helping to audition kids for the then-upcoming seventh season of Barney & Friends at RD Marsh while the video was subsequently filming. While assisting with auditions (dubbed "Barney Camp"), Lanning would stand in for the role of Barney.

Duties[]

Lanning started as an assistant to Aubrey for the seventh season of Barney & Friends. She also did the blocking for the extras. When assisting the extras on set, she would watch all the cameras to ensure that the extras would be seen. Once she became a full-time performance director for the show, she would take notes about the respective takes and film shots in regard to what she implemented for the respective video and or episode. Sometimes Lanning would have to re-chorography something impromptu due to director notes and or educational notes. When she became a performance director, Lanning also tried on the Barney suit, alongside the feet of the little dinos, to understand the restrictions and limitations the respective costume actors had.
