Cheryl Ammeter (born April 12, 1957 in Coggon, Iowa) is a writer who is best-known for being a scriptwriter for the live-action children's series Barney & Friends.[1]

Barney & Friends[]
Bob Evans, who was the writing manager for Barney & Friends at the time, invited Ammeter to a day long seminar to write a treatment for Barney & Friends. During the seminar, she was assigned to write a treatment about counting to ten. Evans mentored Ammeter, which allowed her to become a series writer on Barney & Friends, starting in April 2002. Ammeter wrote for Barney & Friends until May 2009.[2]

- Despite not working with each other on Barney & Friends, Ammeter is very good friends with Bob West, the original voice of Barney. Both have been friends before the existence of the show.
- Ammeter was asked to audition for the role of Mother Nature in the video Barney's Jungle Friends but passed on the role.
- Around the time conversations were held for a second Barney film with 2929 Entertainment, Ammeter proposed an idea that saw a child losing Barney as a plush and Barney eventually being passed to children worldwide, helping them overcome their obstacles until making his way back to the child that initially lost him as a plush.[3]
Radio Disney[]
- Prior to working on Barney & Friends, both Ammeter and Bob Evans worked at Radio Disney.
- Ammeter's son and daughter were used during one of Dean Wendt's auditions for Barney, in which he eventually became the voice for the character. Prior, Wendt and Ammeter both worked for Radio Disney at the same time.
